Frequently Asked Questions
What is a zine/fanzine?
A fanzine (or zine) is a collection of artwork, writing, and/or other creative works compiled into a collection to fit a specific theme.
Will there be a physical copy?
At the moment, we have no plans for a physical release. We will have a public digital release of the zine with a few digital extras (“merch”). There will be a single, free bundle available to all.
What can I expect to find in the zine?
We are a collaborative fanzine featuring the works of many talented artists and writers, contributing with all new and original pieces exclusively for this project! You can expect illustrations, comics, fanfictions, and digital extras such as profile icons, wallpapers and custom emojis. All of these contributions will revolve around a celebration of queerness!
When will the zine be available for download?
The projected release date is June 1st, 2025! Please visit our Zine Schedule page for more information.
I’ve never participated in a project like this before, can I still apply?
Absolutely! We are very beginner friendly and welcoming to first-time zine contributors. Please note that to apply you must be 15 years old or older and have a SFW account. We’re creating this zine with a teen audience in mind, so in addition to our no-NSFW policy for the contents in the zine, we ask that applicants link us to a SFW account when submitting a contributor application.
Will AUs be allowed?
Yes! AUs and canon divergence are absolutely allowed. Contributors will receive more information on zine guidelines like this once accepted into the project and invited onto the project's Discord server.
Can I apply if I’m an LGBTQ+ ally?
The goal of this zine is to spotlight queer creators in the Amphibia community. If you’re applying as an ally, please keep in mind we will prioritize LGBTQ+ creators’ applications due to the nature of this zine.
May I apply for multiple positions?
Yes, you may apply for multiple positions. Applicants may apply for whatever roles they are qualified for, they will be asked to specify if they are willing to take on more than one role at a time (e.g. page artist and merch artist) on the artist contributor application form. You may also apply to both contributor application forms (artists, writers) if you wish to. (Applying for multiple roles does not guarantee you will be accepted onto more than one if chosen as a contributor)
How will moderators communicate with creators?
Applicants will be notified of their acceptance (or rejection) via email on February 14, 2025. The acceptance email will also contain a link to the zine’s Discord server. Additional information regarding guidelines, check-ins, submissions, and zine updates will be provided via Discord, so please note that all contributors will need to have/create a Discord account.
